Lip Blushing Houston

Lip blushing is a form of semi-permanent makeup. It subtly enhances the color and shape of your lips, giving them a fuller, healthier appearance. Lip blushing is essentially a cosmetic tattoo for your lips. The procedure is similar to getting permanent eyeliner.

What are the benefits of lip blushing?

Lip blushing not only subtly enhances your natural lip color, it also gives your lips more definition and creates the illusion of more fullness. It’s an easy, affordable way to achieve a more perfect pout.

Lip blushing can reduce the amount of time you spend on your makeup routine—all you need is clear gloss to make the color pop. Diet and lifestyle won’t change your lip shape, color, or fullness. Lip blushing is a great way to boost your confidence and achieve fuller-looking lips without dermal injections or fillers

How do you choose a shade?

Your technician will work with you to choose a customized lip blushing shade that complements your skin tone and aesthetic goals. Your options are virtually unlimited, from a barely-there peachy tone to a more dramatic color. We recommend starting with a more subtle shade, since you can always have the color darkened later.

How long does it last?

Lip blushing lasts around 1-2 years before you should need retouching. You may need a second visit sooner, though, to perfect the color. Long-lasting lip blushing can last as long as 3-5 years.

Who can get lip blushing?

Adults in good health can have lip blushing. It’s a good alternative to dermal injections and lip fillers, especially for those who want to add subtle fullness.

People with lighter lips are ideal candidates. If you have darker skin, there is a higher risk of hyperpigmentation. The team at Aesthetic Surgery Institute will discuss whether you’re a good candidate and recommend complementary procedures, based on your aesthetic goals.

Does lip blushing hurt?

The lips are a sensitive area. While some people find the process a bit uncomfortable, others say lip blushing doesn’t hurt at all. To help reduce discomfort the technician will apply a topical numbing cream.

Does lip blushing look natural?

Lip blushing is usually much more natural looking than a cosmetic tattoo. The industry has developed gentler machines and better semi-permanent makeup pigments made with organic ingredients rather than harsher carbon-based tattoo ink. The result is a much more natural, dewy look.

What’s the procedure like?

Lip blushing usually takes from 1 to 3 hours. The technician will start by applying a topical anesthetic to numb your lips, which takes 15-20 minutes to take effect. Once your lips are numb, the technician will start the procedure by outlining your lips and then filling them in with your chosen color. The technician uses a device similar to a tattoo pen with a tiny mechanized needle that deposits the pigment into your lips. Lip blushing can help add pigment, even out the tone of the lips, and even correct asymmetry.

How long does it take to recover?

After the procedure you shouldn’t have pain or soreness, but it may feel as if you’ve just had a thorough lip scrub. It usually takes 4-5 days to heal completely, but you’ll be able to resume many activities right after the procedure. You should avoid excessive sun exposure and vigorous exercise for 3-4 weeks after the procedure.

How should I prepare for the procedure?

Getting your lips into good condition before lip blushing will help you achieve the best results. Make sure to have any other lip treatments, such as lip injections or chemical peels, done at least 4 weeks before your lip blushing appointment. Moisturize your lips regularly, and avoid alcohol, caffeine, and exercise the day of your procedure.

How should I care for my lips after the procedure?

Your lips may look darker than you expect after your initial treatment. This is normal and will fade to a more natural hue. It’s not uncommon to develop some scabbing after treatment. Don’t pick at scabs or dry skin. This will help you avoid disrupting the color.

Taking good care of your lips after treatment will help the healing process and give you longer lasting results. Soothe your lips with a tattoo aftercare ointment, avoid excessive sun exposure, and keep your lips as dry as possible for 30 days after lip blushing. The team at Aesthetic Surgery Institute will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions.

How much does lip blushing cost?

The cost of lip blushing depends on your goals, but it usually starts at around $500 per session. You may need more than one session to achieve your desired look. You may also need a touch-up at some point, but long-lasting lip blushing can last as long as 3-5 years.
