Injectables Houston

Non-Invasive Procedures

There is a variety of different injectable procedures available for those who are worried about going under the knife. Aesthetic Surgery Institute provides two common treatments. One is Botox, which is used to treat facial wrinkles such as glabellar lines, crow’s feet, and forehead creases. Kybella, on the other hand, is used to treat the subcutaneous fat underneath the chin, commonly known as a double chin.

Each injection varies in the amount of time it lasts. However, a nonsurgical approach is great for those who need improvement without the downtime of surgery. Our free evaluation will allow you the opportunity to ask any questions about the options we offer and what they can achieve for you.

Here are some more insights into what our most common injectable treatments are, what they are used for, and what you can expect.

Botox

People often choose this course of treatment to look more youthful and healthy. A purified botulinum toxin protein is injected and, once it is in the body, it blocks nerve signals that serve facial muscles. Blocking these signals prevents the muscles from contracting, thereby preventing wrinkles and creases from forming.

Injections are most often done around the eyes, eyebrows, and forehead but can also be effective around the lips, corners of the mouth, chin, and neck. Treatment is typically completed in a few minutes. The results can last for three to four months, but repeated injections can effectively train muscles to relax so you eventually require fewer treatments.

  • Preparation: The process only requires a needle to inject the toxin, although patients are generally advised to avoid alcohol during the week proceeding treatment and cease anti-inflammatory medications for two weeks.
  • The Best Candidate: The typical patient seeks anti-aging therapy. Treatment is best for an individual aged 18 to 65 who has not been diagnosed with a neurological disease and is not pregnant/breastfeeding.
  • Side Effects: Temporary bruising is the #1 side effect, but patients may experience a headache, temporary eyelid drooping, or rare allergic reactions such as itching, rash, dizziness, or wheezing.

Kybella

A substance found naturally in the body, deoxycholic acid breaks down fat. Fat cells under the chin are destroyed following injections administered a minimum of one month apart (up to six treatments may be performed). This procedure involves small injections in several places. The number of injections you receive depends on the amount of fat present and the desired results.

  • Why Seek Treatment: Injections can help if you’re self-conscious about chin fat (submental fullness), it makes you look older and heavier, the fat is not reduced with proper diet and exercise, and you’d rather avoid surgery.
  • Recovery: Bruising, swelling, and numbness in the treated area are likely. If you notice muscle weakness, an uneven smile, or have difficulty swallowing, call a healthcare professional right away. Seek treatment immediately if there are open sores, hair loss, drainage, or tissue damage or cell death at the injection site.
  • Pre-Treatment Indications: Notify your doctor if you have had or plan to have facial, neck, or chin surgery or have previously had cosmetic treatments. Also consult a physician if you have neck problems, difficulty swallowing, or bleeding issues, or if you take blood thinners, are or plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.

Benefits of Injectables

The benefits vary depending on the type of injection used. As with most cosmetic surgery, the most obvious is a boost in your self-esteem and self-confidence. Not all benefits are going to be present, depending on the procedure you decide on.

Some of the results of nonsurgical injectable treatments include:

  • Smoother skin
  • Fewer wrinkles
  • Destruction of fat cells
  • Filling lips, cheeks, and other sagging facial areas
  • Obvious results without the need for surgery
